I’ve been back at school in atl and super busy.  I completley forgot this thing even existed, but I still have a bunch of stuff to post.  I’m gonna try and get some of the highlights of things from the end of last spring till now uploaded over the next few days.

Jumbo Uglydoll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111
I’ve wanted an ugly doll forever, but never felt like spending the money on one.
Fab had a sale on uglydolls and the  2ftish jumbo one was only $20ish, and they are regularly $40ish… What a deal!
for any one who still doesn’t know aboot fab, check it out (and use my referral link to sign up): http://fab.com/l015ry

Here’s the completely assembled ramen.
This took over 18 hours to cook and put together, half off which was really difficult because I burnt the shit out of my hand on a hot pan :(

It took 3 days of cooking to make the broth and the meat for the ramen.

In the pictures are 3lb of pork belly, 3lb of pork shoulder, and the shoulder shredded.

A week after the first round of shopping for ramen, I realized I still needed a lot more stuff before I could start the cooking.
I was deciding between a 99 ranch and an h mart, and ended up going to the 99 ranch since I hadn’t been to one before.  It was much better than what I was expecting.  Originally I was going to go to a butcher after, but I was able to find fresh looking pork neck bones, chickens, chicken backs, and pork shoulder at 99 ranch.

Got a magnavox odyssey 2 to add to my collection of old video game systems.  I found it with 6 games and in good condition on the goodwill auction site, shopgoodwill.com
I was disappointed to find that all 6 of the games it came with (some of the cartridges having up to 3 games each) suck…… alot
This system was released around the same time as Atari 2600, a system that I still enjoy playing.  I don’t know what the developers were thinking when they made games for the odyssey 2. The Atari 2600 basketball game is substantialy better designed than the odyssey 2’s.  If you have played Atari basketball you know that making a worse game would be difficult.

I went to the Houston Chinatown to start collecting ingredients for stuff from the momofuku cookbook.  Im planning on making ramen and kimchi from scratch.

While I was in Chinatown, I also stopped at fit, a store that sells cheap Japanese stuff (almost everything is $2)

Fab had a streak of extra cool stuff and I ended up ordering something almost every day for aboot 2 weeks.

If you haven’t heard of fab you should definitely check it out. Its a site that adds a few sales a day, featuring all kinds of stuff with good design.  Kinda like gilt or jackthreads but with cool stuff.  They keep the new sales interesting and the prices are actually often cheaper than can be found anywhere else.

Some of my recent purchases include damascan rose syrup, fire orchid syrup, kid robot toys, steam punk playing cards, a mulled cider soy candle, collapsable chopsticks, a lambretta watch, and a stuffed animal

More momofuku pickling; this time fermented pickles aka kimchi.
The jar on the left is a radish kimchi and the three on the right are napa cabbage kimchi.
I won’t know how any of it tastes for another week (it takes 2 weeks to ferment) and I won’t know what it should taste like anyways.
